Nepenthe - MUD Description | |
Nepenthe's aim is to make a world that is as interactive and complex as possible. While still in alpha phase, it has quite some interesting features, and allows for complex interactions between players - mob and mobs - mobs. Coded Features (at 18 sept 2000) -Pathfinding Code is in! Allows area-wide spells, skills, shouts & commands to have a (room-)distance radius, in stead of being limited to the whole area or a single room. The idea behind this is to take the focus away from area borders, and make the world feel as 1 piece. - Setting out routes along which mobs patrol! This is possible thanks to being able to define rooms as being part of a subarea. Together with the movement speed of mobs (which can be up to 1 room a second), Guards can patrol city borders etc. - Ticks are done by second! This basically renders ticktimers useless. Again, the aime is to take the focus off game mechanics. - No stat rolling to create a character! One of the most useless things in MUDding must be statrolling. It just eats time while your scripted roller rolls merrily away. In Nepenthe, you (will be able to) just start with a stat minimum which you can increase using trains, or by behaving in ways that increase a stat (running around a lot will increase endurance etc) - Picking Talents / Deficiencies is in! Done at creation, Talents and Deficiencies are special progs affecting you throughout your life. You might have an extra keen sight, or just have trouble waking up. - Original races, spells, skills! Races are in (14 races), and skills and spells are rapidly suggested on our Abilities Forum. Feel free to add ideas as well. -Original areas! Well, actually none yet. There are a few testareas running on the mud, but we're mainly concerning ourselves with developing gameplay at the moment. First area ideas and maps are popping up though. - The ability to form your character after your wishes. You can join guilds, and leave them, and see if you can join another, or you can keep to one guild and try to reach it's pinnacle of power. Enjoy. |
