The staff of Maelstrom is seeking far and wide for talented and creative storytellers and realm builders with the drive and motivation to construct a New World, raised from the ashes of a fallen civilization. A society based on strong religious and mystical thoughts and ideas, shunning history and science and embracing their oft forgotten ancient kinsfolk, elves, dwarves and the like. The future is uncertain and the right architects are needed to forge the path and lead the way into the New Age.

Our goal is to create a world where players of all types can intermix and benefit from an environment borrowing elements from role-playing and hack-n-slash MUDs. A place where players are recognized as the life’s blood of the game and no idea or suggestion goes unconsidered.

We have assembled a team of dedicated individuals, all mudding veterans of 5 or more years. Three excellent and approachable coders, a very talented professional graphic artist/web developer, and three veteran world builders comprise the current team. Our codebase is heavily-modified Circle with a number of features, including:

· A player mapping system that expands as the player explores the world, creating a visual picture of the world his character inhabits.
· An assemblies editor allowing for a complex arrangement of components to produce a final product (including the possibility of building armor and weapons from in-game components).
· A tier-system of class leveling allowing for a good amount of character customization within different guilds (over 150 mortal levels).
· The latest OLC and DG Scripts available for all builders to properly construct a “living” and interactive world.

No prior building or scripting experience is required to apply for a Builder position. We value creative writers with the ability to weave engrossing and complex tales through rooms and mobiles over technical ability (which can be taught). However, a strong grasp of English spelling and grammar rules is required.
