I am generally willing to train new builders and immortals but like many muds out there, prefer to hire from the players playing the game. However, in my current situation, we are in the startup mode and its hard to do that when there are really no players to pull from,
But usually if someone submits an application for a builder position, I carefully review the application and generally spend time talking to the person before making a decision to hire them. Too many times I have had people say they have built for a few months but it turns out all they want is the prestige of being an immortal and none of the work.
In this start up period I don't have the time necessary to train someone but down the road perhaps that will change.
Just my opinion.
