I was thirteen when I first began playing Text based games. My first game was ULRPG.com, a former AOL texted based game. Ah, the memories.

I was twelve or thirteen, playing muds on dial-up BBS door games like Quest for Magic and Crossroads. Once BBSs began dwindling away (sob), I would telnet into some small, generic muds occasionally to talk to friends playing there, but never really got into them again until I was pointed to Achaea. The Achaea/IRE communities somehow remind me of the old BBS communities from way back in ways that other online communities haven't for me.

There was a time without muds?

Hmm, looks like that makes me the youngest person to have begun mudding (that posted). What I wonder is why I never got banned as a 9 year old mudder when most young mudders I know are banned commonly for immature behaviour.

I was like...10.

I was 10 years old. (I'm 23 now.)

My first taste of MUD came at the tender age of 8 when my parents played a game on British Telecom's Micronet system called Shades, back when you had to pay for the phone call AND pay for the game. Boy did they rack up some bills...
I started properly playing them when I discovered the internet around age 16, 11 years ago now. Then again I haven't actively played a MUD for at least 6 years now. |
