Now we just need one of these bans here in the states and all will be well in the world.

There are really two attitudes to take about competition.
1. It's healthy and makes everybody try harder to please the customer/user. That's my attitude, and the attitude of most successful people in any sort of competitive enterprise (maybe Bill Gates aside, heh heh), from guys like Michael Jordan to Scott McNealy of Sun. A rising tide raises all ships, though some people are, of course, too small-minded to see that. 2. Ban our competitors because we can't handle the pressure of competing with them or because we believe in banning anything we don't like . Which one are you advocating again? Would that be healthy competition or cowardice and intolerance? Seriously, I understand you were mainly trying to be funny in the expression of a dislike (for whatever reason) of Iron Realms, but unprovoked flaming isn't cool. Don't be one of those crazies who do that. You're better than that. --matt |

Matt,
Have you considered it might have been due to your gambling system in the game? China are as-we-speak cracking down all over on online betting both for money and not for money. A remote possibility, anyway. Far more likely is that the banning is an effect due to the proximity your server has to something more objectionable. -T. |

Well, that's possible of course, but I have a hard time believing that anyone in the Chinese government would be aware of any specific systems within our games. Text MUDs are non-entities on the world stage. At least IGN is a major games publication with a worldwide audience.
