Bug with URL
I'm trying to post this link:
[EDIT] It won't let me post the URL... I don't like that feature. Using the URL tag. But if I do, watch what happens: Something is wrong here. (I click the link button to do this, and put in the data in the prompts) |

Re: Bug with URL
Whenever you add a URL to a post the SEO system will go to that page and pull the page title to put into the link.
The reason for this is that presumably a page title has been set to something the owner wants that page to rank well for in the search engines, so creating the URL with that title as the anchor text helps search results. Very few MUD homepages are optimized for search engines. Possibly part of the reason not as many folks as we'd like are discovering MUDs these days. TMS forums aren't going to solve that single handledly, particularly as they're so new at this stage they have no page rankings to pass along -- but it's a start. |

Re: Bug with URL
Er, but it's broken. I'm trying to use the URL tag and it breaks. The URL leads to "bleach" which is not what I set.

Re: Bug with URL
I'm not understanding what you are trying to do, the first URL in your post says you were trying to set a link to that, which is there and working fine.
Was it a second, different URL you were trying to post where it now says "http://bleach" ? |

Re: Bug with URL
The first link was me trying to post the URL of what I was trying to do, which didn't work.
The main thing is the bug, where using the URL tag does not work. Click the URL button and try to add this Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleach_%28manga%29 |

Re: Bug with URL
TEST
Clicked the LINK button, in the pop up entered the URL: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleach_%28manga%29" Result is: Seems to work fine. It sounds like you might be seeing something completely different than me as the very first link worked fine for me too. Can you PM me a screen shot please? |

Re: Bug with URL
You also need to enter a name for the URL and not let it generate automatically. Here is the screenshot:

Re: Bug with URL
Haven't forgotten this Zeno - have a support ticket in with VBSEO - seems to be the code that goes and fetches title tags is going into a tailspin if a title was already entered in the URL. Unfortunately VBSEO is encrypted code so I can't just debug it myself.

Re: Bug with URL
Pretty much no. I submitted it as a bug to vBSEO back then, never heard anything. We have the option to just turn the feature off period, but I haven't seen it happen a whole lot either.

Re: Bug with URL
You never got a response? Don't you have a license with vB or something? I know vB isn't free, so I would assume it also comes with support.
